Privacy Policy
Last updated 5 July 2026
Meezan handles invoices, bank records, and tax filings — some of the most sensitive data a business holds. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and the rights you have over it under the UAE Personal Data Protection Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021, the PDPL).
Who we are
Meezan is a UAE tax-preparation product operated by Zanii (“we”, “us”). We act as the data controller for the account and billing information you give us, and as a data processor for the financial documents you upload for tax preparation. For any privacy question or request, contact admin@sinan.agency.
What we collect
- Account data — name, work email, company name, Tax Registration Number (TRN), and role.
- Financial documents — invoices, receipts, bank statements, and ledgers you upload for VAT and Corporate Tax preparation.
- Derived tax data — the figures, schedules, and returns Meezan computes from your documents.
- Usage data — log-in times, device and browser information, and product events used to keep the service secure and reliable.
We do not knowingly collect special-category personal data, and we ask that you not upload it.
Why we use it (lawful basis)
We process your data only for defined purposes, each with a lawful basis under the PDPL:
- To deliver the service — reading documents, computing tax, and compiling filing packages (performance of our contract with you).
- To keep it secure — fraud prevention, audit logging, and access control (our legitimate interest).
- To meet legal obligations — retaining records where UAE law requires it.
We never sell your data, and we never use your financial documents to train third-party AI models.
AI processing
Meezan uses automated models to read documents and answer questions grounded in UAE tax law. Document understanding runs under enterprise terms that prohibit using your content for model training. Meezan produces calculations and drafts; it does not make a final filing decision on your behalf, and a human always reviews before anything is submitted.
Storage, security & location
- Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest.
- Access is role-based and least-privilege; document access is logged.
- Data is hosted with reputable cloud infrastructure providers. Where data is processed outside the UAE, we rely on the transfer safeguards permitted under the PDPL.
How long we keep it
We retain your account and tax records for as long as your account is active, and afterwards for the period required by UAE tax record-keeping rules (generally up to seven years for tax-relevant documents). You can ask us to delete data that we are not legally required to keep.
Your rights
Under the PDPL you may:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- correct inaccurate data;
- request deletion or restriction of processing;
- request a copy of your data in a portable format;
- object to processing based on legitimate interests; and
- withdraw consent where processing relies on it.
Email admin@sinan.agency and we will respond within the timeframe set by the PDPL.
Cookies
We use only the cookies needed to run the product — keeping you signed in and remembering your preferences — plus privacy-respecting analytics to understand which features are used. We do not run third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can clear or block cookies in your browser, though sign-in may stop working.
Changes
If we make a material change to this policy we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the product or by email.
Not tax or legal advice. Meezan is software that helps you prepare UAE VAT and Corporate Tax filings. It does not provide tax, legal, or financial advice, and it does not file on your behalf. A registered UAE Tax Agent completes the final submission on EmaraTax.
